What your insurance covers.

For most adults, physiotherapy is covered by supplementary insurance. Here's how it works and what to check yourself.

How physiotherapy is covered

More about physiotherapy and cover (KNGF, Dutch)
  • Under 18, basic insurance covers a number of sessions per year.
  • From 18, basic insurance only pays for certain chronic conditions, and your deductible (eigen risico) applies.
  • With supplementary insurance, your policy states how many sessions per year it covers. This differs per policy.
  • No cover, or not enough? Then you pay yourself, and you know the price per session in advance.
  • Demo: a real practice checks this text every year against its own insurer contracts.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. A few supplementary policies do ask for a referral before they pay, so check your policy.

How many sessions does my insurance cover?

That depends on your policy. Check your supplementary cover or call your insurer. We're happy to help at the front desk.

How long does a session take?

A regular session takes about half an hour. The first appointment is a bit longer because it includes an assessment.

What should I wear?

Clothes you can move in. For knee or hip problems, shorts are handy.

What if I can't make my appointment?

Let us know at least 24 hours ahead so someone else can use the slot.
